Intermediate/Advanced Lindy Hop Lesson Recap Timestamps: 00:00 Letting Go On Five 00:18 Encouraging Follows to Choose Their Own Adventure 00:31 Tuck The Elbow and Hold On 01:13 The Around 01:57 Follows Free Styling We started by breaking down the swing out from counts one through eight. Specifically, we explored the crucial moment at the midpoint of count five. Here, leads are encouraged to release their connection, creating space. This release gives follows the opportunity to "choose their own adventure" for counts three and four, allowing for creative movement, whether crossing in front or behind the lead. We then explored a variation: if leads continue through five, six, seven, and eight, leading directly down the line, notice how the right foot turns to face the partner. As you rock back, tuck that elbow in. This subtle adjustment helps to smooth out the follow's movement as you step off the floor, ensuring a seamless flow through the swing out. Next, we moved into an around from closed position. We started with a foundational exercise. For counts one, two, three, and four, leads, focus on applying pressure with the right side of your frame, guiding your partner to the outside. A little torque in your own body enhances this movement. Then, for five, six, seven, and eight, bring that right elbow in. For follows, counts one, two, three, and four are your moment. On count six, this is your time to express yourself! This is where you can truly let loose and "jam it out" however you feel. It's an important moment for follows to claim their space and infuse their unique style into the dance. ➡️ Learn more about Jonathan Lindsey and Savage Rhythm: https://www.facebook.com/savagerhythm1/ ➡️ Find all the best swing dancing in Phoenix: www.swingdancingphoenix.com #swingoutvariationsforleads #swingoutvariationsforfollows
